Tesco recalls various Tesco Pates because of incorrect use-by dates
Why it was recalled
Tesco is recalling various Tesco-branded pâtés because packs were printed with an incorrect use-by date. Pâté is a chilled, ready-to-eat product where storage time is a genuine safety control, so a wrong date creates a real microbiological risk rather than a paperwork problem.
A pack that appears comfortably within date could in fact be past the point where bacteria such as listeria become a concern, and neither look nor smell is a reliable guide with pâté.

What you should do
If you have bought any of the above products, please do not consume them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were purchased for a full refund. For further information, please contact the Contact page on the Tesco website: tesco.com/help/contact.
What this means for you
If you have Tesco pâté in the fridge, check it against the affected product list and do not rely on the printed date. Covered products should not be eaten; return them to the store for a full refund. This is a case where trusting the label is exactly the wrong move, since the label itself is the fault. The official FSA notice carries the authoritative product list and instructions.
Action taken by the business
