The dataset
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) covers food businesses across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Food Hygiene Information Scheme (FHIS) covers Scotland. Together these schemes are run by the Food Standards Agency in partnership with local authority Environmental Health teams, who carry out inspections and award the ratings.
The full dataset is published as open data on the FSA’s website. You can browse the official version at ratings.food.gov.uk. If a rating shown here ever differs from the FSA site, the FSA site is authoritative.
How often we refresh
We pull the FSA feed every night, so a new rating issued by a local authority typically appears on Yum Britannia within 24 hours of being published. The “Last synced” timestamp at the top of this page reflects the most recent successful refresh.
Licence and attribution
FSA hygiene-rating data is made available under the Open Government Licence v3.0. As required by the licence, we acknowledge the source of the information:

The Yum Britannia branding, layout, written commentary and the Yum Approved badge are our own and are not part of the open dataset. The FSA does not endorse Yum Britannia and we are not affiliated with the FSA.
Spotted something wrong?
If a rating on this site looks more than 48 hours out of date, or if a venue’s details look incorrect, the quickest fix is to check ratings.food.gov.uk first — if the FSA site is also wrong, the local authority that owns the inspection is the right place to raise it. If our copy is stale relative to FSA, we will catch it on the next sync.
