Tesco recalls Tesco Special Fried Rice because of undeclared wheat (gluten)

Why it was recalled

Tesco is recalling its Special Fried Rice because the dish contains wheat that is not mentioned on the label. Fried rice often includes wheat-based ingredients such as soy sauce, but shoppers cannot be expected to guess: gluten sources must be declared.

For people with coeliac disease or a wheat or gluten intolerance, rice dishes are often seen as a naturally safe choice, which makes an undeclared wheat content here more likely to catch someone out.
