Tesco recalls Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs because of undeclared wheat (gluten)

Why it was recalled

Tesco is recalling its Free From Breadcrumbs because the product contains wheat, the very allergen a free-from breadcrumb product exists to avoid. For coeliacs and the gluten-intolerant, this is the worst kind of labelling failure: the pack actively promises safety it does not deliver.

Breadcrumbs also disappear into other dishes, coatings, stuffings and toppings, so affected packs may already have contaminated home-cooked meals believed to be gluten-free.
