ASDA recalls Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes because it may contain pieces of plastic or metal

Why it was recalled

ASDA is recalling its Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes because pieces of plastic or metal may have got into the product. Foreign fragments in food can cause cuts or dental damage, so affected packs are considered unsafe to eat.

The fishcakes themselves are otherwise normal; the problem arose in manufacturing, and since no shopper can see inside a battered fishcake, the entire affected run is being withdrawn.

What this means for you

If you have these fishcakes in the freezer, do not cook or eat them, and keep them away from anyone else in the household in the meantime. Return the pack to your nearest ASDA store for a full refund; the customer relations team can answer questions by phone. Fishcakes from other ranges or date codes are not affected.
