Why it was recalled
Waitrose is recalling its 4-pack of Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns because the buns contain barley that is not declared on the label. Barley is a gluten-containing grain, and undeclared gluten is one of the most common reasons UK bakery products are recalled.
For people with a barley allergy, and for those with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance who check labels carefully, the missing declaration removes their only warning.
