Update 1: Traditional Cheese Company recalls French Bries because of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes
Why it was recalled
The Traditional Cheese Company's recall of French Brie has been updated: the affected use-by date has been corrected to 10 July 2026 only. The underlying problem is unchanged, contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeriosis typically causes flu-like symptoms such as fever, aches, chills, sickness or diarrhoea, and while most people recover, the infection can turn severe, up to meningitis, in over-65s, pregnant women and their unborn babies, newborns and people with weakened immune systems. Soft cheeses like brie are a classic vehicle for listeria, which is why these recalls are handled firmly.
