Why it was recalled
Tofu King (UK) is recalling its Paper Tofu after Listeria monocytogenes was found in the product. Tofu sheets are often used in dishes that involve little or no further cooking, leaving no step to kill bacteria before eating.
Listeriosis usually resembles flu, with high temperature, aches, chills, sickness or diarrhoea, and most healthy people recover. The infection can become severe, including meningitis, in over-65s, pregnant women and their unborn babies, newborns and people with weakened immune systems.
