Why it was recalled

THIS™ is recalling its Isn't Chicken Deli Pieces because the product contains soya and wheat that are not declared on the label. Plant-based meat alternatives are typically built on soya and wheat proteins, but each must still be declared, and for this product they were not.

The gap matters because meat-free products attract shoppers managing allergies and intolerances, including people with coeliac disease, who may reasonably assume a careful brand has the labelling right.

What this means for you

If you have a soya allergy, a wheat or gluten intolerance or coeliac disease, do not eat this product. Return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund, or contact THIS™ by email with questions. Shoppers without these conditions are not at risk from the labelling error, though the product has been withdrawn for everyone. THIS™ is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.
