Tanpopo Japanese Food recalls Surimi & Avocado Roll and Chicken Katsu Roll because of incorrect use-by dates
Why it was recalled
Tanpopo Japanese Food is recalling two sushi products, its Surimi & Avocado Roll and Chicken Katsu Roll, because the packs were labelled with incorrect use-by dates. Sushi combines cooked rice, fish and chicken, all foods where storage time genuinely matters, so a wrong date is a real safety failure rather than a paperwork issue.
A sushi pack that looks within date may in fact be past the point where it is safe, and appearance and smell are not reliable guides for this kind of product.
