Prepworld recalls fruit products because of possible contamination with Salmonella

Why it was recalled

Prepworld is recalling several prepared fruit packs after routine testing found Salmonella in the apple and kiwi used in them. Ready-to-eat fruit is eaten without washing or cooking, so contamination found at testing is enough to trigger a full recall.

Salmonella infection usually brings fever, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. It passes in a few days for most people, but it spreads easily: anyone with symptoms should stay away from work, school or nursery until 48 hours after symptoms stop.

What this means for you

Check any prepared fruit packs in your fridge against the affected product list, and do not eat those covered by the recall; return them for a full refund. If someone in your household has eaten one of these packs and develops fever, diarrhoea or cramps, keep them home and well hydrated, and seek medical advice if symptoms are severe or persistent, particularly for young children and elderly relatives. Prepworld is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.
