Danone recalls several Aptamil and Cow & Gate First Infant Milk and Follow on Milk formula products because of the possible presence of cereulide (toxin)
Why it was recalled
Danone is recalling several Aptamil and Cow & Gate First Infant Milk and Follow-on Milk products because some batches may contain cereulide, a toxin produced by certain strains of Bacillus cereus bacteria. This extends the Aptamil recall first issued in January 2026.
Cereulide is especially concerning in infant formula because it survives heat: making up a bottle according to NHS guidance will not destroy it. If consumed it can quickly cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, symptoms a baby cannot explain.
